Mine consolidated Cornelie
We do not exactly know when mining started in our area. The first mining concession certificate is dated Oct.5th, 1811. It was delivered with the concession for a mining claim in the traditional size of 84 x 14 metres. Till 1840 it was the most successful pit in the area. But later on there was not found enough iron ore anymore and so the mine owners got into debts. In 1858, this mine united with several other mines to the “Consolidated Cornelie”. As the bureau of mines planned a security measure, they intended exposing the gallery “Neues Glücksrad”.

Reconstructed gallery portal
The gallery mouth should be reconstructed with the old stones lying on the dump. During the works, they found the foundation stones of a mine house, which was reconstructed too.
