The reel shaft was framed by poles (A,B). The poles were lying on crossbars (D). Then, this edging was fixed by pointed poles (C) and the reel support (E) was built. Reel axle (G) and haul rope were attached, too (L). On each side of the reel axle there was a trunnion (H) with cranks (I,K). The trunnions were guided by a steel inlay bearing (F). Two buckets (N) were hanging on rope hooks (M) off the haul rope. The length of the rope depended on the shaft's depth. If one bucket was on the top, the other one was on the bottom of the pit. The haulage installation did not change for many centuries. The rope drum you can see here was reconstructed in 2013 and then built up by VSB.
