The Eisenhardt, as this area is named, is 482m high and enclosed by Siegen, Eiserfeld, Eisern and Obersdorf. The Eisenhardt nowadays is a popular local recreation area for people from the surrounding towns and villages. In the times of mining the Eisernhardt was of great importance for the Siegerland. Since about 500 BC (LaTene period) ore was exploited here until 1957, when the mine closed down.
An old description tells about the geography of the Eisernhardt Mountain, its foothills and the surrounding valleys with their creeks.
